I traveled up to visit a friend and her little ones the week after I returned from my trip. I have been taking her youngest daughter's pictures every few months for the first year and this was our final part of the baby plan. We had iffy weather but it held out for us and we even still had amazing light coming into their kitchen (seriously, if I had the great natural light they have, I would do tons of sessions in my house). Emma got right into the cake and definitely smashed it! Enjoy!!

I first met little Michelle when she was just a tiny newborn at just over 5 lbs. She was one of the only babies to fit snuggly into the little teacup planter I had (see below). Well, over the year, I have followed her for every major holiday. Her mom is absolutely insane. I can say this and it's okay to say because I have become very good friends with her over the past year and she, along with her entire family and group of friends would agree. ;) I am honestly surprised Michelle still likes me after all of the things we've done to her and the many pictures we've taken. I'm waiting for her to talk and tell me to "get lost!". Instead, she deals with us and seems to get a little more okay with it every time. Below is a little collage I had put together to wish her a happy birthday on facebook. You may remember the pumpkin and the live bunny her mother supplied. I love that I followed her so much during her first year, because babies change so fast! Her mom now has a full photographic record of her growth and progress over that first year and even with all the crazy ideas (and there were some CRAZY ones), we got great photos of her. Now, comes her one year shoot. The regular photos are actually VERY simple compared to everything else we've done. We met at the Training Field with some balloons, benches, and chairs. Now, yes, these were simple...but her cake smash was NOT. Anyone who knows Andrea, knows she makes cupcakes, so of course, we had a cupcake theme and well, you'll see below... (I know all of you who know Andrea will not be surprised that we're already planning for Halloween! ENJOY! GO over and "LIKE" NICOLE O'NEIL PHOTOGRAPHY on FACEBOOK! These next two are two of my favorites!
I first met little T when he was 6 months. He was super adorable and smiley and had those chubby cheeks and thigh rolls that are just awesome on babies. His mom contacted me a while back about his first year cake smash and I was excited to see him again. We had a cloudy day, but luckily it was warm so we could go to the park across the street from their house for some pics!
Now, cake smashes go different every time. Some kids stick a finger in, try it and then will eventually dig in. Some will just keep sticking one or two fingers in and we end up having to break it up for them. Some barely touch it. And, some dig right in and make a huge mess. T was one of those! He dug in with both hands right away and devoured the cake. It was awesome! Enjoy!! Two more cake smashes from that weekend to come later this week! I was referred to baby R's mom by a great client of mine. I first went when she was about 7 months old. She is one of the most smiley babies I have met. I love this age when they are starting to try and talk and have just those few teeth. SO CUTE! R also has the most beautiful eyes. The next time you see her here, she'll be with her new sibling who is coming this month. I'm sure the new addition will be just as adorable!!! I'm starting below with one from her 7 month. ENJOY! One of my personal favorites! My other personal Favorite!I have been following B since she was born. Remember this one? I then saw B at 6 months. We took pics at a castle near their house. Here's one from that session. B has a tendency to be very serious, but when she smiles and laughs, she has the most beautiful smile and listening to her laugh just melts your heart. I captured some photos of her around her house and then we dove into the cake smash and she did not disappoint! She dug right in and really enjoyed that sugar!! ENJOY! Trying to share with me. :)
I was contacted by Q's mom a couple of months back to do a cake smash for his 1st birthday along with some Christmas photos. When we had the consultation, I found that I was yet again very lucky to have such wonderful clients! And Q's eyes are to die for. What you see below is straight out of the camera. That's how beautiful they are. He will be one handsome boy growing up! Look out mom and dad! I had a great time capturing Q playing. He was very nervous and aware of the camera (who could blame him, the camera's bigger than his head), so I got a lot of serious faces, but eventually he warmed up! He wasn't so interested in the cake but was in the spoons we gave him! ha! ENJOY!
Some great clients of mine referred S's mom to me. I met S and her parents at Borderland State Park in Easton (my favorite locale south of the city). We wandered around to capture some great shots. S was shy and took time to warm up but once she did she was laughing away. She was exploring every area we went to and mostly, she wanted to just stand up and walk as most one year olds do! ENJOY!
