I planned on this shoot at the beginning of summer. I wanted to do a woodland fairy shoot and I knew just who to ask. I've known Elise for years and have done photos for all three of her girls. They are always super stylish and I knew she'd be willing and able to perfectly style this shoot. Her oldest, B, always had more of a serious face for photos. Well, we found the session that it couldn't be more perfect for. We met at this great location I found recently when I did another "in the woods" shoot with my cousins who are models. Check it out here: In the Woods. I brought along my simple props and the girls just NAILED it. Oh, and they MAY be convinced that there were actual fairies there. And just maybe there were.....
ENJOY!! AND PLEASE SHARE!!! I am now offering styled sessions as an extension of my regular sessions. And if you haven't booked your Fall sessions, do so soon! I have very limited weekend dates left and also fairly limited weekdays open. FALL SESSIONS (click on the images to see larger) Can you believe Summer is over? It felt like it flew by. In this business, I get to know my clients and it's good for my clients to know me. I go into people's homes and establish friendships with the people I photograph. So, to in this post, I'll share some snippets from my summer. You won't see everything I did but you'll see the highlights through both iPhone and personal camera pictures that I took just for me. :) I'll go as far back as May. My friend Gina was visiting of the weekend and we played tourist. I played with double exposures and visited the Pru Skywalk, which I've never done. Have you? On Memorial Day weekend, I took my cousin to a fun spot to take some photos of her. She is my sidekick and loves her photos taken. I then took her into the city to walk around and check out the giant flag at the Harbor Hotel. I created this image. The beginning of June was filled with wedding dress shopping for my sister's wedding, hiking Mt. Manadnock and joining other photographers for a fun night of practicing our head shot photography. At the end of June, I took a very special trip. As a Boston marathon survivor, we have formed a group, 4.15 Strong which has grown to One World Strong, that helps others impacted by trauma. We took a trip to Orlando two weeks after the Pulse shooting to meet with community leaders and survivors. It was both an emotional and powerful trip. The beginning of July meant time with friends (and their little ones), and enjoying some time at Marina Bay on a foggy summer day. The sidekick wanted to do Manadnock after she knew I had hiked it. She did awesome. It was freezing at the top but lots of fun. Our 4.15 group joined our Semper Fi Fund friends for the Runner's World Classic at Merrimack College. We got to see some inspirational people including watching Jeff Bauman walk a mile for the first time since losing both of his legs.. We couldn't be more proud of him. The sidekick and I LOVE sunsets and the beach so we had to take a trip to Hull to check out the sunset one evening. She always writes "love" in the sand and I LOVE that. She's sarcastic just like me but she also has lots of love. It's beautiful. Met my friend Gina again when she was back in the city and captured these images...and also saw some great advice at the Barking Crab. ;) I spent a night and day down the cape with my friend Elizabeth and her foster kids and mom. We caught a pretty sunset and spent a great day at the beach the next day. I LOVE the cape and happy I was able to make the trip down. The next week, I spent another 3 days on the cape enjoying sunsets, kayaking, and beach time. It was a perfect little getaway. We had another trip to Orlando the first weekend in August. It was great to meet even more survivors and to reconnect with those we'd met the first time and see how they are doing. The people there have a long road of healing ahead but it feels so good to help them, having been through it before. For years, I've said I would take a day trip to Ogunquit, ME. I hear how beautiful it is and I really don't take advantage of all of the great day trips that I should. It proved to be as great as everyone says. It was beautiful and I loved how quaint the shops are. I had a great lobster burger at Hamburger Harry's (Grass fed beef-yay) and really enjoyed The Lovesick Juicery and The Backyard Coffehouse & Eatery. Check them all out if you go there. I've wanted to do a shoot with my twin cousins for a while. We finally found some time and came up with a concept and perfect location. They are both models and also great at photography. I LOVED this shoot and even got in front of the camera for a bit. You can check out the whole shoot here. Connecting with Nature A few days in the White Mountains a couple of weeks ago was a perfect last trip of the summer. I had been dying to get to a good waterfall, so why not go to the best one?? If you haven't been to Arethusa Falls, go there! And hike along the Bemis Falls trail. It is a fairy easy hike and SO worth it. The next day, since we are "go big or go home" we decided to do Mt Lafayette. It is over 5,000 feet, about 4.2 miles up if you do the regular trail. We were originally going to do the loop of 3 mountains but didn't get started early enough. The hike was amazing with awesome views and was quite a challenge. I was basically delirious on the way down. My legs were jello and sore but sitting in the river behind our lodge was like a nice ice bath. The place we stayed was perfect with a view of Loon and a balcony where you could hear the river. The last day was cloudy with rain coming and a trip up the Cannon Mtn Tramway was a great way to end the trip. The views were good but covered by clouds which made it even cooler. We were literally going through the clouds. I need to get up to the mountains more. That's for sure. :) August finished with a concert, a rooftop pool trip, a sunset at the top of Blue Hills, a Red Sox game and a 25 mile bike trip. And let's not forget, in between all of this fun, I also did a lot of work to take care of my Summer clients, prepare for the Fall season, and come up with new ideas for my business. :) I hope your summer was as good as mine and you spent lots of time with those you love and doing things you love.
Check out the current specials I have on Fall sessions, senior portraits, and head shot sessions! Current Specials I enjoyed my session with this beautiful little girl and her mom back at the beginning of the summer. She wanted to stay awake for a lot of it but did sleep a bit to give me those sleepy poses. Enjoy!
*if you or anyone you know wants to book a session (family, newborn, holiday, head shot, senior, etc) contact me early to secure a date! I loved my session with baby H and his parents. Those cheeks and that perfect little face and all of the love that was evident, it was all good. He gave me some awesome awake shots and then slept soundly for all of those sleepy newborn shots. Enjoy!
* If you or someone you know wants to book a shoot (newborn, family, holiday, head shot, senior), contact me early to secure a spot! I have known G and her parents for quite a few years now. We share a favorite Charlestown coffee shop (Zume's Coffee House). I've watched G grow from a toddler to a smart, beautiful 7 year old. She has such an awesome personality and is super sweet. I always love any time I see her but I especially love taking her pictures and her sharing all of her pose ideas. ;) I gave her some flowers at the beginning of this shoot and she wanted to have them incorporated into most of the shots. The third picture is one of my favorites. The real caption is "What? I'm just really great at climbing." Enjoy!
*If you or anyone you know would like to book a photo shoot of any kind (family, newborn, head shot, senior, event) please contact me early to secure a spot. Use the contact link above. I've known this family for years and first did their photos when E was first born. I followed her first year and was happy to hear they were having baby #2. We had a mini shoot scheduled for little E before J arrived in June. We didn't get to do those photos due to issues out of our control, so we did a combination newborn/mini session. J was awesome and sleepy and E and I had some fun outdoors while the baby took a food break. Enjoy!

Baby S was just perfection through her entire shoot and T, is so in love with her baby sis. I've always enjoyed our sessions and look forward to many more. Enjoy!
